i just tested if the same thing happened when using only 7bit midi cc - it doesn't.
with 7bit midi the parameter feedback on all channels seems to work okay.
I would still be interested in knowing what you mean by this-- for ex., do you mean have a group that loads audio files randomly (answer is yes), or do you mean setting up to load a random .bgrp or .bidule file at startup (which would be nice, but seems like a no right now)? or ?

trash wrote:

3) can you load preset banks as part of a bidule ?

under the Presets pulldown you have load/save, which saves/loads a .bprs file, is this what you mean?

MIDI number: the only thing thats important is that MIDI note 69 is 440Hz,
then rest is just a naming scheme and the MIDI association does not enforce it. I dont remember why we chose this particular naming scheme (prolly around 2001). But it would be easy to change with a user prefs.
To my knowledge theres
MIDI note0 : C0, C-1 and C-2 ... whatever....

And Yes flac and ogg are now in libsndfile in 0.9655 (at least on windows)

request for user assigned hot key mappings. for ex, on OSX i think it would be great to access cmd-1, cmd-2, cmd-3 for processing on/mute/bypass, hot keys for group params, properties windows, rename, create group.

also on OSX, it would be nice to have some finder behaviors like cmd-mouse drag to turn on/off consecutive checkboxes (instead of having to click one at a time), option-drag to copy...

maybe such things will be developing with new UI?
i like seeing the progress. the midi crossfader is interesting-- what would you have it do specifically?

No need to check in other hosts, I simply wrote that to say that the code was written so that it should work (or once worked). It's quite possible there's a bug in Bidule.

Of course I can midi-learn on all channels just fine. only parameter feedback is acting weird.

banks for a preset for a group yeah...
like load another set in
or recall and replace them with something else in some other way...

that midi number thing you do is bad i gotta say
purely because every other piece of gear on the planet works the other way - why change something that just everyone knows already ?

can you load flac by the way ? all my music is in flac now....
so if you give a certain type of file it may load a random file from a directory as part of a patch ? is that feasible ?

ill come up with some rough stabs in the right direction at some point and update the link... i want to be able to randomise the tempo as well and then limit it to certain presets or perhaps load another set in for each tempo multiplication. dunno whether you can do that. i almost had bibdule sort of sussed when i wrote that looper but i cant remember jack about it now. hmm. edit: starting to get it again a bit... just like riding a bike.... with 6,255,256 pedals....
pretty sure we can only trigger start/stop, like tell it to stop playing after, eg, step 32. if it is synced to a Sync Creator a Gate for play/stop can be used. in your group you could set up param mod with Sync Extractor ppq or bar start, etc., with trigger(s) to start/stop. gets messy, i think...

would be nice to be able to mod Step Seq loop, loop start time, maybe even loop fwd/rev, # of loop times, things like this. in general, this gets into wishing for a few basic devs with the step seq-- loop mods, cut/copy/paste notes, transpose/shift/stretch notes (like a move feature). i reckon this starts to sound more like wishing for a complete overhaul, but i still like and use this little step seq!

Topic Replies: 4

This one is really weird. I hope I can explain it.

I have a BCR midi controller attached via usb. I am on win xp. midi learn (14bit) works fine and so does parameter feedback when I activate it in the corresponding midi out device.

however, sending parameter feedback only works right away with controls that were learnt from midi channel 1.
If I learn a control from midi channel 2 e.g., the parameter feedback is not sent.

I have found a workaround, but it's sort of complicated. In addition to learning the control via channel 2 I then have to check 'assume channel 1' in the right midi in device and learn the same control again. then I can turn off 'assume channel 1'.

when i go in parameters, of course the knob is now linked to the same CC on channel 1 and 2.
now I unlink the channel 1 control - voila, the channel 2 control receives parameter feedback.

i hope you can test this or at least understand the procedure. :s
