[SOLVED] Preset number parameter export

Postby boonier » Fri Mar 26, 2010 5:56 pm

HI, Just downloaded the latest version 0.9702 and I'm having an issue with the said exported parameter

THe preset in question is a constant with 8 presets for values, and i'm exporting it as a dropdown gui. Whenever I change it it snaps to the first preset and appears to lock down so no amount of changing helps.

Just try creating a new group, stick a constant in there and give it a few presets, export the preset number of the constant to the gui as a choice, and trying changing the preset in the group gui

cheers

It works fine for me following the quick instructions, if you have a simple layout showing the problem, please send it.

Tangential issue. If you have a preset number of a group inside a group exported to the parent group gui, and then have a param link which changes the preset number from the child group, the change happens but is not reflected in the parent group gui.

Addendum, you actually have to link both the parent and child presets to get the change to be reflected all around.
*edit* that doesn't work well though because you get double triggers. Trying to figure out the work around for this.

You mean :

Group A contains Group B,
Group B has presets
Group A parameters list contains Group B preset number
Modulation is done directly on Group B

or something more complex?

A very simplistic case for that is working for me.

That was it. I'm getting all sorts of anomalous behavior. I actually think I had that working for a second. But then reverted back to not working. Now I'm thinking it could be related to the saved preset info thingamajig.

In the last stages (setting up presets) of a last minute crunch to get ready by thurs. Doing a lot of testing right now so forgive me if I'm double and triple posting.

HI

This seems to have reared its head again. Doesn't seem to be a problem on the old ppc laptop i have, only the intel i'm on now (running 10.5.8 and bidule .9702. Trying to select a preset through the parent group gui is not working, The parameter in question is the preset number of a constant....it just sticks to the first of its presets.

attached is the simplest example i could muster

cheers

HI - THis still appears to be a problem on the latest .9705 as of today. I've updated the layout attached so it includes another test case...

Again it only seems to occur on my intel machine.

Haven't had the time to look at it last week, I just had to release the version before going back into bug hunting...

No worries dude, it wasn't exactly a show stopper. In fact no one else i reckon will be having the same issue

Interestingly, I just tested it on another mac intel (exactly the same as the 'problem' machine) except this one's running 10.6.3. There is no problem with the same patch as i have on the other machine...

I've tried deleting and reinstalling Bidule, and trashing the preferences. No idea what it could be :? A Leopard vs Snow Leopard thing? (the ppc machine mentioned earlier is running Tiger 10.4.11)

cheers

HI Seb,
have you had a chance to look into this? I was just trying one of Jersmi's sequencer patches and getting the problem, so it's not just ones i've created...
thanks

[SOLVED] Re: Preset number parameter export

Postby boonier » Tue Aug 03, 2010 4:28 am

Right, user error. I found an extra 'conflicting' (?) prefs file in a the user preferences folder that was named something like PlogueBidule preferences. I did not know that there were 2 pref files. This has fix my problem. So for future reference, to delete bidule prefs files:

com.plogue.bidule.plist
PlogueBidule Preferences

Hope this helps someone,

Sorry for the bother!

PS. Seb, any particular reason why there are 2 files?
