Revisiting Performance Optimization

Setting up a new studio to explore immersive/spatial audio. Surprised to see CPU overload on a new windows 10 pro 6 core box with i7-8700K and SSD, so I want to revisit performance optimization settings. Some questions: Does an ASIO duplex interface with lots of pins (40 in and 40 out in my case) by...

Re: windows 10 creators and spatial audio

FYI there is a working c++ example, that encodes a 12 channel (7.1.4) wav file into dolby atmos over HDMI on the fly. It's a "Universal" app, but the meat of the code is there for win32 or whatever. Xbox-ATG-Samples-master\XDKSamples\Audio\SimpleSpatialPlaySoundXDK Compile for x64 (vs. ARM...

windows 10 creators and spatial audio

I would like to be able to send audio via hdmi in 17 channels as described here: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/mt807491(v=vs.85).aspx Specifically using Dolby Atmos for Home Theater (vs. headphones or windows sonic for headphones). support for up to 8.1.4.4 channels (8 cha...

Re: How to make a trigger message from a value change?

Usually I use a change bidule followed by abs or clip, because the change bidule outputs a one sample "1" when the input signal changes in a positive way, and a one sample "-1" when the change is in the opposite direction. So, it depends on if you want triggers for both types of ...

Re: Converting ''Mixer'' or ''Gain'' fader's readout to be a parameter

You could "build" those in the function bidule, but you don't need to because the unit converter bidule has linear to dB and dB to linear. Please read the help file all the way through, and examine the example layouts. I still can't tell exactly what you are trying to do (control the gain ...

Re: Converting ''Mixer'' or ''Gain'' fader's readout to be a parameter

Variable in dB (e.g. -15 to +10 or whatever) --> db to linear --> multiply against audio signal. That multiply can either be binary operator * or a function x*y. That gets you away from the modulator, which is where you are getting messed up. FYI I have NEVER used relative modulation (I admit I don'...

Re: Spectral Resynthesiser sounds bust

Can't tell from your response if you turned audio processing off and on and then tried another experiment with high precision FFT, or if you miss read my post and only tried higher preccision FFT?

Re: Spectral Resynthesiser sounds bust

What happens if you turn processing off and on again?

I find that with spectral bidules it is best to do that, after making/changing connections.

Re: Quadrophonic Bidules

There's a continuous surround panner under mixing --> Surround. I have also made constant power surround panners via the SDK.: http://www.surroundbyus.com/sbu/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=227 Either of those can be automated (and adjusted for no center speaker). Not to mention a lot of surround VSTs... ...

Well on windows you could use the "magnify" desktop app, if nothing else.

Does that help?

Re: Minimisation problem

Oddly for me its behavior was inconsistent in testing on windows 10. e.g. with floating frames unchecked, a comment bidule ui stayed open when minimizing the patch bay, but a mixer bidule ui didn't. Did you switch the preference after opening the mixer GUI? The preference is applied when creating t...
