Poly adapter loses parameter links

Postby jersmi » Fri Jul 07, 2017 12:13 am

Looks like there is some consistency losing param links when turning on the poly adapter?

There is code to capture and recreate internal and external parameter links when creating a polyphonic adapter, a specific case?

Good to know. I'll post back if I can reproduce.

Before I reveal this secret audio technology I am developing I need you to promise this will go no further than here..

Ok, here's the patch
BUILD-SmootheBitSynth 2.bidule
Super secret advanced synth technology

And here is the patching (as is stands in the patch prior to Polyphonising) which is lost

Let me know if you need anything else.

Looks like I spoke too fast about internal parameter links. There is some code for it but I did hit an issue where the way things are working when loading a file prevents it to work and I haven't found a solution yet. In any case modulation per voice is a stretch as parameter modulator would only run when the voice is processing. Any reason you can put these as voice parameters?

I was able to rebuild my group to keep param links out of the poly adapter, so my issue became moot for the moment.

Heading into feature request territory, It is true that whenever I have param mods inside the poly adpater, i'm likely trying to get the poly adapter to grow up and suddenly do more than it is designed to do.... I'd say it might come down to wanting access to the poly adapter's index (i.e., voice) and current number of voices (two constants, as it were).

For ex., right now I wish I could make a poly pitchbend group using an accum and a lookup table. i wish i could param link to lut preset and have each index assign itself to a different preset along with a channel for each voice (then filter the voices by channel when output from the poly adapter). I also wish I could assign different envelope settings per voice (e.g., attack/release). (There might be a way to do some things using boonier's clever "granular cloud" technique, need to double check. Would still fall under "workaround").

Looks like all parameter links break inside the poly adapter....

With discretes, is there any way to generate a random number without parameter linking? I guess the best option is discrete to audio, noise (triggered), audio to discrete?

Yes or Random with a low frequency and interpolation turned off.

There should probably be discrete versions of Random and Noise (triggered).

Ok, I hit the wall trying to make a polyphonic group with discrete bidules. Either this issue needs to be fixed or the discretes need some routing tools (cuz dts350z's use parameter linking to work). Hopefully both!
