Spectral Resynthesiser sounds bust

Postby CinningBao » Sun Jul 30, 2017 4:34 pm

In my understanding of the Bidule FFT implmentation, the iFFT bidule should sound the same as the Spectral Resynthesiser when "Wave Type" is set to Sine, and the "Window Type" is the same in the iFFT bidule.

If this is the case, the Spectral Resynthesiser might need looking at as it sounds very ring-moddy and broken.

What happens if you turn processing off and on again?

I find that with spectral bidules it is best to do that, after making/changing connections.

Good point, but no change :(
Just tested..

Turning off 'Higher Precision FFT', and back on again made no difference.

Can't tell from your response if you turned audio processing off and on and then tried another experiment with high precision FFT, or if you miss read my post and only tried higher preccision FFT?

Sorry, sometimes detail can be lost when I'm trying to speak efficiently.

Tested both

- audio processing off and on
- switched between higher precision FFT

No change.

It's supposed to sound like Rebuilder did (using the frequency and magnitude information with a bank of non-bandlimited oscillators) not like
the iFFT.

I remember getting Rebuilder yonks ago and I"m pretty sure it didn't sound as weird and ring-moddy as the bidule version.

Ah well.
cheers
