The only known reason for this to occur (besides doing exactly what the message says) is that somehow the Bidule.app ends up being marked
as quarantined and is never cleared. If the quarantine attribute is never cleared, the OS ends up running the application in a kind of sandbox
with virtualized paths. An unsigned .dmg file would also do that. At home, on my iMac running Sierra, freshly downloading the .dmg and copying its
contents on the hard disk work as expected.

Do you remember seeing the usual dialog telling you that you will be running an app downloaded from site X when
first launching Bidule after the download?

The dmg can be checked through Terminal
(from your Downloads folder) with:

spctl -a -t open --context context:primary-signature -v PlogueBidule.dmg

You can check the status of Plogue Bidule.app with both
(from the "Plogue Bidule 0.9756" folder)

codesign -d -vvvv Plogue\ Bidule.app
and
spctl --assess -v Plogue\ Bidule.app/

If everything shows up fine with the Plogue certificate and spctrl saying that the files are accepted from Developer ID
then probably the only thing that can be done is clearing the quarantine attribute from Terminal
(from the folder containing "Plogue Bidule 0.9756")

xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine "Plogue Bidule 0.9756"

Could you attach a bidule_x64.log / bidule.log ?

Trying to clear the quarantine:

xattr -rd com.apple.quarantine "Plogue Bidule 0.9756"
xattr: [Errno 13] Permission denied: 'Plogue Bidule 0.9756/ReWire 1.85/ReWire.bundle/Contents/Info.plist'
xattr: [Errno 13] Permission denied: 'Plogue Bidule 0.9756/ReWire 1.85/ReWire.bundle/Contents/MacOS/ReWire'

Permissions on these two specific files were 'read only'. I have changed them to 'read & write' and Bidule now starts without any problems.

As far as I know, the quarantine flag is only relevant on the application itself, not the entire folder. But I'll check on the
build machine so that these file are writable by the user.

Log files: where do I find them?

In <your user>/Library/Application Support/Plogue/Bidule

but the only usefulness would have been to confirm the variable path/kind of sandbox scenario from quarantine was exactly the case as
far as I can tell.
