xcode 4 and boost static libs

Postby dts350z » Thu Apr 14, 2011 6:00 pm

Anybody using boost libs with the sdk and Xcode 4? Dyanmic linking to boost is not a problem but I can't get static linking to work despite a lot of googling. Fixes people have found for other OSX and IOS projects using boost are not working for me.

another solution would be the ability to "make" a plugin on the command line, without XCode IDE. Besides probably not being so picky about symbols while linking that would also mean I could use gcc 4.3, in which case I wouldn't need boost at all (using regx in TR1 on windows. regx comes to gcc in 4.3).

using the command line / a make script to compile a SDK plugin should work, Xcode up until 4 was pretty much only a UI wrapping calls to gcc/ld. However you would be on your own in building a make script.

So I never got past this challenge. Now I see that Xcode 4.2 (which implies Lion) should have regex in clang so I could avoid having to link to boost.

I know you are working on an SDK update but a "passthru" example for Lion/Xcode 4.2 would be a big help.

bump and now for mavericks and whatever Xcode is current.

I'd really like to be able to port my stuff to OSX (again) but need help with a working "passthru" template/project in modern OSX compilers to get me started.

What doesn't work if you change the OS X SDK version, compiler and architectures values for what is needed in Xcode 5?

Wow, a fresh copy of the sdk in a fresh install of Xcode 5 works fine.

I didn't have to change anything. Better project upgrade logic in XCode 5 than 4.x?

Anyway, that's what I was asking for a working example, so it's on me now.

Thanks!
