reversed sliders and scaling

Postby dts350z » Fri Mar 08, 2013 2:20 am

So I just discovered that you can swap the min and max values in sliders to have the max value on the left, and this in combination with SQUARE or CUBE scaling lets me have better control of things near the end of the slider where I need it.

That's all good, but I'd like to suggest a feature request for REVERSE scaling, so you can have the scaling effect on the end of the slider you want, without flipping min and max to invert the slider.

I've found a couple of issues with making reverse sliders in the sdk.

1) Selecting the slider and using the keyboard arrow controls to adjust; the left arrow key works but the right arrow key does not.

2) Entering a value (vs. moving the slider) doesn't work.

Here is my slider config:

Code: Select all

   p0 = 0;
   pinfos[p0].id = p0;
   STRCPY(pinfos[p0].name, "Audio Value");
   pinfos[p0].type = DOUBLEPARAM;
   pinfos[p0].ctrlType = GUICTRL_SLIDER;
   pinfos[p0].linkable = 1;
   pinfos[p0].saveable = 1;
   pinfos[p0].paramInfo.pd.defaultValue = 1;
   STRCPY(pinfos[p0].paramInfo.pd.units, "Value");
   pinfos[p0].paramInfo.pd.precision = 1;
   pinfos[p0].paramInfo.pd.minValue = 1.0;
   pinfos[p0].paramInfo.pd.maxValue = 0.0;
   pinfos[p0].paramInfo.pd.scaling = SCALING_CUBE;

By the way, doing this in the SDK is probably the long way around. Reverse sliders (of all signal types) with scaling options (and scaling options for all types of regular sliders) would also solve my problem.

I think this may have been asked for as well but a "fine grain control" option on sliders would also solve my problem. Maybe something like holding down the shift or control key, while moving sliders, would cause the "fine grain control" behavior?

bump

Wondering if we can get a fix for the arrow keys and entering values in the above case?

FYI I'm doing this both audio and spectral magnitude signal types.

Thanks
