How do i get THAT SID sound?

Postby jack_bell » Sun May 24, 2015 7:55 am

Hello! I am fairly new to chip sounds and I LOVE the SID chip. But the one thing i'm missing is that awesome lead that is commonly associated with SID. I'm sure you know the one.

THIS one:

So how do I get this sound? I've fiddled with a lot of settings but it just never sounds quite right. It's probably really really simple

Can you please let me know?

Thanks guys

Hi

Its a simple slow arpeggiator setting with the SID loaded to PWM and slow lfo.

You can get a similar sound by loading from the top left SNAPSHOT box the following preset:
"Lead/LD SID Porta" , turn on the arpeggitor, lower BPM, and play a few chords.

Have fun!

Hello,

I am also looking to get some specific sounds from my chipsounds. I am after the fighting sounds effects from International Karate - C64. All the punches, kicks and hits. Especially the K.O. sound is wonderful. They are very powerful and would like to learn how I can make those? Even better if there would be presets for these?

Overall a great product - Love it!

I agree those sounds are cool, but they are samples played by the volume register of the SID ($D418) So legally I cannot extract them and make presets for them.

IIRC Archer Maclean used the sounds from Bruce Lee films to make the samples in IK and IK+ :)
