Official SFZ 1.0 specification is available here:
http://betaforum.cakewalk.com/DevXchang ... px?aid=108

Official SFZ 2.0 specification is available in this book
http://www.cakewalk.com/products/Books/Synthesizers.asp
(in chapters 17 and addendum A)
Its the only official public documentation on it
Please don't request this information from us.

I am starting/trying to do some custom SFZ work for my own use. I have got as far as creating samples and loops of my own clarinet and getting the whole instrument to play in Aria by simply replacing all the regions from one of the stock clarinets in COMB2 with my own regions. The instrument plays but needs some tweaking.

I have had the Cakewalk version 1.0 spec for some time without realising that there was anything else. Trying to make sense of the Aria COMB2 SFZ files was pretty hard. :-(

I now have a copy of the book Cakewalk Synthesizers From Presets to Power User - 2nd Edition. Not actually the one specified above which I am assuming is 1st Edition. Can anyone tell me if the Chapter 13 in 2nd Ed is the same/updated Chapter 17 in 1st Ed, please?

Thanks, Tony

HI and Welcome.
I didnt notice any major changes in the two editions as far as the spec is concerned. A few typos and obvious mistakes have been corrected
(some that i i pointed out myself).

Hello,
I noticed that the official links for the specifications on the sfz format have moved. But I didn't find them.
I found this link however, http://drealm.info/sfz/plj-sfz.xhtml
Is it ok to follow this page, or is there an official specifications page I should refer to?

Does Sfortzando support the full format? cutoff filters and everything?

Hey cuckoo welcome aboard the SFZ ship!

Cakewalk did move their spec around multiple times, seems its here now:
http://betaforum.cakewalk.com/DevXchang ... px?aid=108

Need to modify the links

sforzando supports virtually all SFZ 1.0 opcodes and all/most SFZ 2.0 opcodes plus tons of custom additions.
I need to make a full wiki for them. Info for the new opcodes are here and there.

You could have a look at the "Virtual Analog" SFZ files in the "Free sounds for ARIA" bank for lots of different synth architectures made only using SFZ.
