User operated pan or balance control

Postby herodotus » Sun Jan 10, 2016 1:13 pm

Hello.

One of the unfortunate quirks of the sfz 1.0 spec was that there was no straightforward way to give the user real time control of the pan or balance of an instrument.

In other words, there was no panccN opcode that allowed the designer to give the user real time control of the pan position of an instrument.

I did some preliminary research, looking through the sfz files included with GPO (which obviously provides user pan control for each instrument) and became even more confused than I had been.

So my question is, how does a person designing an sfz based instrument give the user control over the pan position of a sampled instrument?

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried the "pan_cc#" form with SFZ v1? I know quite a lot of "undocumented" opcodes did work. For v2, it'd be pan_oncc#.

I have tried the former, but knew nothing about the latter. I will give it a try. Thanks!
