So, it sort of switches at ultra-audio rates, and then uses a reconstruction filter to smooth everything out? That's the vibe I'm getting.

It would be sweet to be able to turn the multiplexor on and off in the simulation. I'm wondering how much it accounts for what I remember as 'that sound' when I first saw a Megadrive in action.
