Bad Installation + Possible Registry Problem

Postby Dr Diss » Tue Sep 11, 2012 9:39 am

Hey there everyone,

I recently bought Chipsounds during the one week sale after I was shown it by a friend. I had never heard of it and at half the price, it was a no-brainer. As a regular user of MaxMSP, I'm also intrigued by what Bidule brings to the table too. But for now, I'm having problems with Chipsounds.

Namely the 64bit version is not working.

Here's what has happened. When I installed it and tried to start it, it gave me the error I've seen many times, mainly with games, about 'msvp100.dll' being missing. I fixed this, uninstalled and reinstalled. It doesn't give me that error anymore, but now, regardless of whether I use it as a plugin or as standalone, everytime I try to load anything I get errors about 'No samples or generators' being found. As you can see by this screenshot taken, the files are indeed there.

The 32bit standalone version works fine, but is not helpful for my 64bit Cubase.

My educated guess is it's a registry error, but I figured I'd ask for help before deleting potentially crucial files from my computer.

Thank you very much for your time!

Richard

Oh!

Was tracking a similar issue with another user. the hint was the missing microsoft C++ runtime dll

I've recompiled the main sound generator plugin in chipsounds without the need for this dll:

Works like a charm, thanks for the really quick reply!

I look forward to putting Chipsounds through its paces!

Thanks a lot for spotting this,
will do a 1.601 installer this afternoon, there are just a few issues that weren't found by beta testers.
Such is my life :)
