Slow response to keyboard

Postby gert54 » Mon Jun 27, 2016 6:55 pm

Bought me a midi keyboard. Playing on Sforznado
there's a quarter second delay on each key strike.
On a vst host with vst plugin there is no delay at all.
Keyboard is velocity sensored. what is the problem?

What buffer size have you set on your ASIO driver?

If this is what you mean:

In preferences
Audio Device API = MME
Sample Rate 44100
BUffersize 8192

Have changed the buffer size to 4096.
THe delay is halved to app. 1/8 second.
Playable but 4096 seems the low limit.
2048 or 1024 would be better.

In the Audio Device API drop-down menu, you should select ASIO instead of MME. This is the audio driver you want to use for low latency. It's probably what your VST host uses as well.

With the ASIO driver, you'll be able to set buffer sizes of 256 or 128 samples. Keyboard response will be instantaneous.
