Gate Switcher - turn one on, all others turn off

Postby jersmi » Mon Feb 27, 2017 2:24 pm

Is there a proper name for this type of switcher? Attached is a 8 switch group but as one can see, it's awkward and a little buggy. Better built-in? Or is there a better way to do it?

Why not use an output selector instead?

Is it because you want to use the different gates via parameters?

Hmm, yeah, I guess the Output Selector would behave like an analog "dial" if I set it up right.... For that matter, the Audio Switcher might work even better cuz I can mute unused. Ok!

lols. i was doing that last night n all. since i was going to trigger it off keys, i was going to go the road of using the note on and note offs and using them to trigger it
if you had a chabs n S&H after the note on detection you would only ever trigger one gate corresponding to the last note on, not sure how you make sure you are closing the right one off the top of me ed.

By the way I have a group that does "solo" and "mute" for 6 channels.

So a single channel solo'd would act like what you describe, but you can solo and/or mute any combination of channels.

It is also designed to switch between the 6 channels (5.1 surround) and stereo (it's for my upmix layouts) and a few other bells and whistles.

I can share it if there is interest.

Also, for going further with this idea, one could use an audio matrix with a bunch of presets, to mimic the OP behavior and more.

7.1 and stereo monitor with solo mute and mixdown (mixdown coefficients may need tweaking to suit)

@ 100mountains.

No, my surround stuff is @ www.surroundbyus.com. Works in PB/ PB VST and/or there is a windows standalone version. Free for non comercial use.

I appreciate this, dts350z! Had to think about it -- the output selector will not work for a couple reasons -- one, doesn't translate to midi controller buttons, and two, it passes through many to get to one.
