Hittin' the arcade and the charts

Plogue OPMZ pulls double duty: for pleasure as an emulator of the fabled Yamaha OPM chip used in numerous classic arcade games and home computers, and for business as a perfect replica of Yamaha's fabled bass-thumping TX81Z rack synth and the related DX21/27/100/11 series.

Transcend the limitations of the originals with our unique system of easy editing, deep modulation including key-synchronized audio-rate LFOs, dependable effects, and generous 8-way stacking.

You will be able to recreate the classic arcade sound in no time thanks to our system of VGM playback and the ability to analyze what made it special, letting you instantly recreate this magic in your own music.

Not only that, but you will also get to play around with the fabled TX81Z, without having to sacrifice space in your rack or having to deal with its lack of a patch creation interface. Our recreation is a dead ringer, including in the rock solid bass range, letting you command the sound that made a generation dance.

Chipsynth OPMZ

Once again, we've done it. We've meticulously recreated the original OPM (YM2151), OPP (YM2164), OPZ (YM2414) and OPZ2 (YM2424) sound chips in deep emulation from numerous digital captures, including the very many undocumented features. For instance, chipsynth OPMZ allows you to use the OPM's CSM mode in music. We also have a full recreation of the exact pattern and mechanics of its often neglected noise generator, and all the exact quirks of its LFO.

The OPZ chip used in the TX81Z was completely undocumented before the development of chipsynth OPMZ, and so we've done a full reverse engineering, discovering all the mysterious register overlays and previously unknown functionality such as internal volume ramping.

We've also done a deep dive on how exactly Yamaha themselves used the chips in the DX100, DX27, DX21, TX81Z and DX11 synthesizers, including their behavior and analog output stage and the DX21's chorus, making the whole package virtually identical.

Just as before, chipsynth OPMZ is based on human researched and programmed emulation code.
